Reminder- Pathfinder School Picture Retake Day

School photos have been sent home. If your child missed Picture Day on October 21 or 22, or you would like to have their photo retaken, school picture retakes will happen the morning of Tuesday, December 2.

If your child is having retakes, please have them bring the original photo packet to school on December 2 to return to the photographers. There is no cost for retakes unless you are planning to keep the original photo packet. If so, you will need to place another order for the new photos using the link below.

If you want a new photo taken, please click the link below to order. You will receive an email confirmation.

If you already ordered photos but your child wasn't at school on picture day, you don't need to do anything. Your child will have their picture taken December 2.

If you forgot to order before the October 21 or 22 picture day or would like to order more of the original photos, please use the form enclosed in the photo packet you received.

If you have any questions, please email KIDS Photography at Hello@KIDSschoolPhotos.com

Message from Pathfinder Principal, Ms. Harris

Did you know that schools practice safety drills each month? We are required to practice:
  • evacuating the building in the event of a fire
  • lockdown procedures or intruder drills
  • earthquake safety
  • shelter-in-place to prepare for environmental hazards
Each type of drill helps us practice procedures to keep kids safe in the event of emergency situations. We take student safety very seriously at Pathfinder and have made thorough preparations for all types of emergencies.

During our drills we practice our plans for keeping students, volunteers, and staff safe. We don't announce the exact date and time of drills in advance so that our practice is more authentic. In a real emergency, we will make every effort to keep you informed using notifications through ParentSquare. ParentSquare messages are automatically sent to the phone and email address we have listed for you. During a real emergency, we often partner with the District Office to support communication to families, allowing us to focus on immediate needs here at the building.

Warm Regards,
Julie Harris

Note From Nurse Maggie

It is that time of year. Respiratory illnesses have increased, and the weather is getting colder. Please keep your child home if they are sick. Remind them to cover their coughs and sneezes, wash hands regularly, get plenty of sleep each night, consider getting your child the flu and COVID vaccine, and send them to school each day with warm clothing - including a jacket, hat, and gloves on those colder days.

Thank you!
Nurse Maggie

Fine Motor Activities for Families at Home

Fine motor skills, like cutting, drawing, and buttoning, are more than just ‘hand skills’. They help children develop the hand-eye coordination, focus, and dexterity needed for writing, using scissors, and manipulating classroom tools. Practicing these skills at home supports not only everyday independence but also academic success.
A chart lists activities like playdough sculpting and bead stringing, with their benefits and instructions.

Attend Today, Achieve Tomorrow

Are you planning a family trip for the holidays? As you think about your arrangements, we want to stress the importance of sending your child to school every day possible. Every year, absences spike in the weeks before and after winter break as families squeeze in a few more vacation days. However, just a few missed days here and there, even if they’re excused absences, can add up to too much lost learning time and put your child behind in school. This is as true in kindergarten as it is in high school. Put simply, too many absences at any age can affect a student’s chances for academic success and eventually for graduation.

We recognize that holidays are an important time for reconnecting with families far away. The costs of plane tickets often influence when you want to travel. But keep in mind the costs to your children’s education if they miss too much school, and the message you will be sending about the importance of attendance. The state and our district do not consider travel/vacations as an excused absence. Even if you receive a homework packet from the teacher, it doesn’t make up for the interaction and learning that happens in the classroom. Our teachers will be teaching, and our students will be learning, right up until vacation starts and the first day back. You can help us convey that message. This holiday season, give your children the gift of an education and the habit of regular attendance.
